Writing under the Influence of Fiction, History and Imagination

The Dan Davin Literary Foundation is excited to announce that the Dan Davin Writer’s in Residence for 2019 are Maxine Alterio and Majella Cullinane.

On Thursday 19 September, come into the Library for an informal talk about the process of writing, some readings from their books, and information about the Dan Davin residency.

Majella Cullinane

Originally from Ireland, Majella Cullinane has lived in NZ since 2008. Her debut novel, The Life of De’Ath was shortlisted for the Dundee International Book Prize, a finalist in the 2018 NZ Heritage Book Award, and longlisted for the Ockham NZ Book Awards Fiction Prize 2019.

Maxine Alterio

Maxine Alterio is a novelist, short story writer and academic mentor. Her first novel, Ribbons of Grace, shortlisted for the 2008 Nielsen BookData New Zealand Booksellers’ Choice Award, topped the national bestsellers list for several months.
