Land, Sky, and Wai: Enter your photo and win!

Submit your best landscape photograph for a chance to inspire a community weaving project Tangata Whenua Ki a Murihiku and win a gift bag!


  • The photo must include three elements: land, sky and a body of water
  • The photo must be taken in Southland
  • Digital post-processing is allowed; removal of elements is allowed, however the addition of new elements (including sky) is not allowed.

To Enter

Publish your photo on Facebook or Instagram with the location it was taken and the hashtag #landskywai, email it to, or post it to Invercargill City Libraries, Private Bag 90111, Invercargill 9840.

Please include your name, the location where the photo was taken, and your contact details. Entries close 11 April 2021, 11:59 pm.

What will the photo be used for?

Invercargill City Libraries and Harakeke Down South are encouraging the community to take part in creating a woven taonga made of harakeke representing our region’s nature.

The winning landscape that will provide a blueprint for the community weaving project will be announced on 16 April, 2021.
