Events for the Whole Family

You are invited to the performance of The Lyrical Librarians, at 12.30pm on Thursday 19th December. 

Library staff look forward to the annual Christmas sing-a-long. There will be other talented performers from 11.30am, so come early and get a seat.

A collection will be taken in support of the Relay For Life team, raising money for the Cancer Society.

Join us on Saturday 30 November as we celebrate the beginning of this years Summer Reading Challenge. Located on the ground floor, come and join us on your way to the Santa Parade. We will have a photo booth, crafts, Lego and temporary tattoos!

This will also be an opportunity to pick up this years summer reading challenge cards, our yearly reading challenge with great prizes to be won.

Library showcase! Celebrate our building refurbishment and 30th anniversary!

Invercargill City Libraries & Archives staff and management invite you to attend the blessing and opening ceremony of our newly refurbished building. We are also celebrating 30 years at our Dee Street location.

There will be live music, cake, and fun for all ages! The festivities will begin at 4:00pm with the ribbon cutting and blessing featuring honoured guests His Worship the Mayor, Sir Tim Shadbolt and Library kaumatua Michael Skerrett. Performances from Russ Dear, Ken Wellington, Jo Cooper and Emma Wells.

Would you love to be in the Library after it closes? Do you love stories and fort building? Then this event is perfect for you – a fun evening for families with young children (or grandchildren)!

Bring your whanau and listen to the best stories we have handpicked by our librarians! Then, once the Library is closed, use all of our props to make your very own fort and enjoy reading by torchlight together as a family.
