Crafternoon Tea 🧶
From sewing to scrapbooking to super-gluing – Crafternoon Tea is the club for hands-on crafty people. Whether you have a project to show off, or a skill you want to learn, come along for a chat over a cuppa with like-minded people.
Explore the experiences of past generations, compared to those of kids of today. Experience hands-on activities using technology and items from throughout the ages.
Join us for an afternoon of stories and fun activities as we encourage our oldest and youngest citizens to gather together to share their experiences. Discover how your grandparents communicated with each other while teaching them all the different ways you communicate with your peers today.
See what schools used to be like, crack some Morse Code and enjoy some old fashioned treats with your friends and whanau.
This event is part of the Southland Heritage Month.
Calling all bikers and decorators!
To celebrate the annual Burt Munro Challenge returning for 2020 we will be holding a bike decorating competition here at the Library! Decorate your bike using whatever materials you have available and meet up at the Library for the big show!
You have until Wednesday 5 February to decorate your bike so it truly represents your personality. You can use cardboard, paper, fabric, wood – whatever to make your ride stand out amongst the crowd.
Work on your bike at home and then bring it in on the big day! The show will begin after 4:00pm, with each bike being judged by a collection of trained bike enthusiasts.
There will be two age groups with separate prize pools; kids aged 5 – 8 and 9 – 12 years.
Make sure to register your bike using the form below by Tuesday 4 February.
