Using heritage resources at the library
We can help you can find information about Southland's history, its people and places and also help in finding out about your own heritage.
We have information that can help you trace your family back many generations. If they immigrated from overseas we have access to Ancestry database and other resources that will help you. We also run special evenings for people starting out on family history searches which introduce you to our resources and help you to begin your search. Check out our events calendar for 2012 for the next one. Archives are original items such as diaries or unpublished manuscripts and can be a valuable source of information to help you with research. Oral histories are audio recordings of people's lives or particular events that have significance
There is always a member of our team at the Information Services Desk. You can ask the librarian on duty for assistance with your research. Most questions will be answered immediately, but more detailed questions may require us to get back to you.
